It is not uncommon for IVF patients to have a failed IVF cycle, sometimes even several, before they finally get pregnant. There are some tests your fertility specialists can perform that may improve your chances of having a successful IVF the next time. You may also consider another alternative - donor egg.

It is not uncommon for IVF patients to have an unsuccessful cycle, sometimes even several, before they finally get pregnant. It is certainly disappointing to have a failed IVF cycle. However, there are some options and tests available that may improve your chances of having a successful IVF. To name a few…. Comprehensive Chromosome Screening, DNA fragmentation for males, chromosome testing for males, immune testing for female patients.

Although fertility doctors and scientists made a big leap in understanding the reproductive health, IVF process remains intricately complex. If your first IVF cycle wasn’t successful, we want you to know that you are not the only one. We wanted to share some statistics pertaining to success rates in IVF.

CDC’s website is a great source of statistics about IVF treatments in the U.S., if you need additional details.

Before we go any further, we would like to mention that MedVacation’s IVF clinics had several 56 year old patients whose IVF treatments were successful. We recently saw an article that talked about a 66 year old Ukrainian woman giving birth to a healthy baby boy. We are certainly not advocating child bearing at 66. Neverthless, you probably still have a few more years to try IVF a few more times.

First of all, the biggest factor in IVF treatments is the age of the female patient. Typically, once the woman turns 40-41, many doctors will recommend she uses an egg donor. There are three tests, ovarian reserve tests, that fertility doctors can perform to determine one’s ovarian reserve and the need for egg donor.

Misconceptions about the causes of infertility are still quite common in our society. Often people automatically assume that the woman is the cause of infertility. Approximately one third of all infertility cases can be attributed to the male factor. If your first IVF was unsuccessful, we would recommend that your IVF doctor do a few tests on your husband as well, if the they have not done so already. Your IVF doctor should order Chromosome Testing for your spouse. In addition, they should also do DNA fragmentation test on his sperm.

There is another great IVF test that has recently became available to hopeful parents. It is called Comprehensive Chromosome Screening or CCS. This ground-breaking IVF technique is utmost accurate method for the analysis of all 24 types of chromosome. More and more, IVF specialists recommend this type of screening for patients who have had multiple failed IVF cycles or numerous miscarriages. We recommend you and your current IVF doctors look into this type of testing.

Some of our former patients have also purchased Lupron from an online pharmacy overseas. We’ll be happy to provide you with details. Please note, it typically takes up to two weeks for the shipment to clear U.S. customs and to arrive at your address in the U.S.

Often plastic surgeons are employed to deal with undesired effects (e.g. excessive loose skin in abdominal area) of bariatric surgery or substantial weight loss. Some of our clients ask us whether they are good candidates for plastic surgery, because they are overweight. The answer to this question is it depends. Our cosmetic surgeons evaluate each case individually and will provide you with their recommendation after they have a chance to look at your biniki photographs and the forms that they ask you to fill out.

Let’s talk about these two surgeries. Bariatric surgery differs from plastic surgery. Bariatric surgery is often referred to as a weight loss surgery. This procedure is intended for individuals who are excessively overweight. It is a surgical procedure for weight loss that is preformed on the stomach and intestines. This type of surgery changes the makeup of the digestive system, by limiting the amount of food a patient can eat and digest.

Client who come to us to deal with weight issues often think that liposuction and a tummy tuck may be an ideal solution. Liposuction, also known as lipoplasty, is a cosmetic operation that is performed by a licensed plastic surgeon. This type of surgery removes fat from various places on the surface of one’s body. Liposuction is a surgical technique that removes extra fat located in the skin and, while full tummy tuck also tightens underlying muscle tissue. The main purpose of this procedure is to improve the body’s contour. However, there are limits to how much fat can be removed in one surgery. Consequently, some patients are good candidates for bariatric surgery.

The length of stay with our IVF clinic abroad will be 9 days, if you choose to be monitored by your local OBGYN at home for the first 7 days. Our fertility doctors will continue monitoring you and work very closely with your local doctor during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy as well. Low cost IVF packages start around $8,199 and include airfare for two and hotel stay.

From start to finish, a typical IVF protocol would require a 17-day stay abroad. Although MedVacation fertility doctors would prefer our clients to stay in their clinics for the entire IVF cycle, most patients are able to reduce the number of days spent abroad by way of starting ovulation stimulation with a local OBGYN doctor. With egg donor cycles, the length of stay abroad is even shorter, since our embryologist will need the sperm on the twelfth day of the cycle. With IVF cycles using own eggs, you can spend the first seven days at home. During that time, our doctors will work very closely with yours to get everything ready for the next step.

Until recently, embryos were cultured for three days and then transferred to the uterus and/or cryogenically frozen for later use. Our IVF clinics now have the ability to grow the embryos for five or six days until they reach the blastocyst stage. Blastocysts have a greater chance of implantation. Blastocysts transfer is often preferred by our clients, because it allows our IVF doctors to transfer fewer embryos and lower the risk of multiple births. In addition, blastocysts transfers give couples significantly higher chances for pregnancy.

You may return home 2-3 days after the embryo transfer. Our work does not end here though. Before you leave our clinic, you will be instructed to purchase injectables, estrogen tablets and suppository medicine to support the first 12 weeks of your pregnancy. Post-transfer IVF medications from our clinics’ pharmacies cost half as much as they do in the U.S. Upon your return to your home town, you will schedule a number of appointments with either a perinatologist or an Ob doctor. Our fertility doctors will continue monitoring you and work very closely with your local doctor during these 12 weeks. They are also available for a free consultation any time after that.

If you choose to the option of being monitored by a local OBGYN for the first seven days of your IVF treatments, our low cost IVF packages start around $8,199 and include airfare for two and hotel stay.

If your doctor recommends you have a surgery to remove your uterine fibroids, the cost of the removal with our overseas IVF clinic is $2,800. We also want to point out that the relationship between uterine fibroids and infertility remains quite a controversial topic. Data from several recent studies does not support myomectomy in women with small-to-moderate uterine fibroids prior to IVF treatments, regardless of fibroids’ location. Our fertility doctors will need to see a medical report indicating the location of your fibroids and their size, before they can determine whether it is necessary for your fibroids to be removed. We recommend you send us your ultrasound. You can either make a copy of the CD and mail it to us or transfer the file via Skype.

Call us today to schedule a free telephone consultation with a fertility specialist to discuss your fibroid situation.

When people talk about infertility, they often automatically assume that the problem lies with the female. This is so far from the truth. There are many factors that affect the quality of your future embryos and the success of your IVF treatments. One of those factors is the quality of semen used in the fertilization stage. One third of infertility cases are due to male factor, one third are attributed to female factor, and the remaining third are unexplained and typically involve problems on both sides. Nevertheless, there are a few things men can do to improve their chances of having successful IVF treatments.

Our fertility doctors will be happy to provide you with a FREE telephone consultation. If you are told that you need to improve the quality of your sperm, our reproductive endocrinologists highly recommend you take supplements to better the morphology. Take Proxceed for at least two months before starting your treatment. Vitamins and folic acid provide nutrients that are important for sperm production and function.

Tobacco and excessive use of alcohol affect the quality of one’s sperm. If you use tobacco products, we recommend you quick smoking or chewing at least two months before your IVF treatments. Tobacco has negatives effects on motility and sperm count. In addition, if you are a heavy drinker, drinking can reduce the quality and quantity of sperm. If you choose to drink alcohol, limit yourself to one or two drinks per day.

Also, certain medications can reduce male’s ability to conceive. For instance, certain steroids and high blood pressure medicine are known to affect sperm motility. If you are not sure whether your meds may affect the quality of your sperm, our doctors will be happy to review your current list of medications. This is a free consultation.

You are more likely to produce high-quality sperm, if you maintain a healthy weight. Therefore, exercising regularly can help you produce healthy sperm. Nevertheless, exercising to the point of exhaustion may not be healthy either. Increased scrotal temperature can hurt sperm production. Hot work environments, tight underwear, prolonged sitting and hot tubs can all negatively affect the quality of your sperm.

What happens during IVF treatments and how does the in vitro fertilization process work? Human conception is a relatively simple and yet immensely complex process. Think about your IVF cycle as natural conception process aided by our fertility specialists. It may also be helpful to understand the process of natural conception.

The natural conception process begins on the first day of your menstrual cycle. In IVF, we also call this day Cycle Day 1. During the next 12 to 14 days occurs what fertility specialists refer to as follicular phase, the event that results in the ovulation of a mature egg. It’s called “follicular phase,” because the eggs develop in a fluid-filled sacs called the follicles. On Cycle Day 1, your body starts developing follicles. Women of reproductive age begin to develop many eggs during each monthly cycle. Naturally, however, usually just one of the eggs will reach maturity while the rest undergo a process of degeneration, and are absorbed by the body forever. When that one egg is mature, it is released from the ovary. The egg will be capable of being fertilized for only the next 12 to 24 hours. If not fertilized within that time, it is simply reabsorbed by the body. You may be wondering how IVF patients develop more than 20 eggs during a single IVF cycle. With IVF medications, our fertility doctors help your body to develop more than one egg during the first 10 days of the cycle.

On day 14 of the typical 28-day cycle, woman’s egg is mature and ovulation occurs. As the egg begins it descend through the fallopian tubes, it meets with sperm and gets fertilized. Ovulation triggers many other changes in the body. For example, as a result of changes in the levels of hormones, the cervical mucus becomes penetrable. At the same time, the lining of the uterus is getting ready to accept an ebryo implantation. In contract to the natural process, our IVF doctors will retrieve the mature eggs on Cycle Day 12. It is important to note that it may take up to 17 days to retrieve your eggs, if your ovaries do not respond well to stimulation meds. Normally IVF medications are taken for 10 days. However, if patient’s ovaries don’t respond well, the patient may be instructed to take medication up to five days longer.

Typically, our IVF clinics perform egg retrieval on Cycle Day 12. The very same day, the eggs are fertilized with sperm either by conventional insemination or by ICSI. The eggs will be checked the following day to document fertilization and again the next day to evaluate the early cell division. Until recently, embryos were cultured for three days and then transferred to the uterus or cryogenically frozen for later use. Our IVF clinics now have the ability to grow the embryos for five until they reach the blastocyst stage. Blastocysts have a greater chance of implantation. This, in turn, allows our IVF doctors to transfer fewer embryos and lower the risk of multiple births while increasing the chance of pregnancy.

The final step in the IVF cycle is the embryo transfer. As it is the case with the natural fertilization, not all embryos will grow in the laboratory dish. The embryo(s) that continue to divide and grow is transferred into patient’s uterus about the time it would arrive there in a natural conception. Unused embryos can be cryopreserved for later use.
